OLRCP ANNOUNCEMENTS. 15th February 2026

1. The Lenten Season commences on Ash Wednesday, 18th February 2026. The Mass programme for the day is as follows:

i.Ridgeways – 6.45 am, 1:00pm and 6:00 pm

ii.Muringa - 5.30pm

iii.Huruma - 5.30pm

iv.Karura - 1:00pm

The Priest’s Office will remain closed on that day.

2.The Ash Wednesday morning Mass (6.45 am) will be animated by the daily Mass group, Lunchtime Mass (1.00 pm) by CMA & CWA groups and the evening Mass (6:00 pm) by Liturgy committee, Ushers, Lectors groups.

3.We shall have a special collection during Ash Wednesday Mass; the collection is used to finance Justice and Peace activities at the Diocesan and National level. Kindly give generously.

4.The Way of the Cross is every Friday of Lent at 5.30 pm followed by Holy Mass. This coming Friday, (20/02/2026), it will be animated by the CWA Group.

5.During the forty days of lent we shall have “THE UPPER ROOM EXPERIENCE” with daily Eucharistic adoration and guided reflections, every Monday to Friday (6 am-7 am) and Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) (6.30 am-7.30 am) followed by Mass.

6.The Catholic Women Association (CWA) will have a luncheon with the Priest tomorrow, Monday 16th. The day’s program will begin with Holy Mass, followed by the luncheon thereafter. All CWA members are kindly requested to attend and keep time.

7.Infant Baptism will take place on Saturday; 7th March 2026 at 10:00 am here in the church. It will be preceded by 3 Baptismal instruction classes for the parents and godparents. The classes will begin on Saturday, 14th February 2026 at 2:00 pm in St. Maria Goretti Hall. Registration is ongoing at the Parish Tent or at the Parish Office

8.Kindly be informed that the 2026 Parish Calendars are still available. They are going for Ksh 250 only per copy.

9.The Masses for:

a)St. Faustina SCC,

b)St. Josephine Bakhita SCC will be celebrated on Tuesday, 17th February, at 7:00 p.m.

10.The Masses for:

a) St. Jude SCC,

b)St. Stephen SCC,

c)St. Mark the Evangelist SCC and

d)St. Joachim SCC will be celebrated on Thursday, 19th February, at 7:00 p.m.

11.Home blessings for Our Lady of Fatima SCC will be held on Saturday, 21st February at 9:00 a.m.

Today’s Mass has been animated by the Christ the King Choir. We are a dedicated group of men and women who serve the Lord through music for the greater glory of God. Our practice sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and on Sundays before and after the 9:30 a.m. Mass. If you are new to the parish or have been a member for some time, are aged 18 years and above, and feel called to serve God through music, you are warmly invited to join us. FIRST READING: EPHESIANS 5: 21 - 33

Psalm 128: 1 - 2, 3, 4, 5 (R.) 1a

GOSPEL: LUKE 13: 15 - 21

In St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians today, we get to see two vital ingredients in marriage; love and respect. Love and respect are not two separate entities entirely; just as love is not complete without respect, respect is nothing without love. The kind of words we use with our spouses determines the direction of their lives. Are you the wife or the husband who never stops insulting their spouse? Repent!

In today’s Gospel passage, Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a grain of mustard seed which starts very small but soon grows to become a thousand times bigger than the seed. Quarrels and fights in marriage are like grains of mustard seed. When these fights are not forgiven, they become like pieces of debris that we fail to take off.

Little quarrels pile up in our memories little by little and before we know it, they affect the quality of our love for our spouse. The person we once trusted with all our hearts becomes someone else in our eyes. Once that trust is gone, little mistakes become magnified; we become blind to the good aspects of our spouse and what was once love becomes hate.

Love is a fire, if it is not properly fed with fuel, it quenches. Rather than trying to win that fight or that argument, focus more on pouring fuel into the fire of your love. One lesson the story of “Beauty and the Beast” teaches us is that love brings out the best in people. Every “Beast” needs “Beauty”. Love your spouse not because they deserve it but because you are Beauty.

Whenever you consciously do something to hurt your spouse deliberately, it always backfires. On the day of your marriage, you were no longer two people, but one person. Treat your spouse with all the love and respect you can muster just as you would treat your leg or hand that is wounded. You don’t cut off a hand or leg because it is injured, you treat it.

Surely, it might not heal immediately (humans are naturally difficult), but you have to apply patience as Jesus explains in today’s Gospel passage, little drops of love on a daily basis would grow into a big tree (a changed person).

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we commit our marriages and families to you. Restore love and respect in our homes. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
