21ST DECEMBER 2021
REJOICE, THE LORD IS ALMOST HERE.
The days of the birth of Christ is drawing near and preparations are very hectic. The business districts are buzzing with business activities, decorations in our homes are reaching it's heights. If someone is to drop from outer space into our homes, that person will truly know something is just about to happen. Yes the Savior is about to arrive. If we can also translate these physical preparations to our inner preparations to welcome the infant king, the Savior's birth will take a great significance in our lives. Make the inner preparations possible.
The first reading of today gives a romantic touch to the preparations of our Savior's birth. "Hark! my lover–here he comes springing across the mountains, leaping across the hills. My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Here he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattices." His coming is almost near and it is for sure.
The Gospel reading of today narrates the miraculous conception of Jesus in the womb of the Mama Mary. And the angel tells Mary that the child to be born will be conceived by the gracious action of the Holy Spirit as God has found favor with her (Lk 1:28). The narration of the Miraculous birth of Jesus underscores who this child is going to be. A "great person." He will be "great" and "Son of the Most High" and "King" (Lk 1:31-32)
Mary responded YES promptly to the divine message. This is to be the model of faith for all of us who believe. We do not need argument to prove the Savior's birth, our YES of faith must be modelled in the YES of Mary. Our faith must always drive us to the belief of hope not of despair. The Savior's birth may seem impossible in the ordinary eyes, but with God everything is possible.
May we, like Mary, live life full of faith, believing in the promises of God in lives and always looking hopefully to God. Wishing you a blessed Day.
