NOVENA OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

EUCHARISTIC EXPOSITION & ADORATION

EXPOSITION: The people assemble in silence. On the altar are four or six lighted candles. As the celebrant and altar server(s) enter, the people stand. The hymn O salutaris Hostia or any other appropriate hymn begins. NAKUABUDU YESU 1. 3. Baraka yako Yesu utupatie, uwajalie neema yako, tuishi kwa amani. 4. Uwabariki pia wapenzi wetu, uwajalie neema yako, watoe shukrani kuu. The celebrant places the monstrance on the altar, then goes to the tabernacle. The people kneel as the celebrant brings the Holy Eucharist to the altar. He places the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance. Then the celebrant and server(s) kneel facing the altar and the celebrant incenses the Blessed Sacrament.

All Recite three times: Adoremus in æternum Sanctissimum Sacramentum (Let us forever adore the most Holy Sacrament). Then offer these prayers: Pater Noster (Our Father), Ave Maria (Hail Mary), Gloria Patri (Glory be to the Father…) ADORATION: The people may remain kneeling during their silent adoration and may pray with the Holy Scripture or other traditional prayers because all these are sources of fruitful meditation.

REFLECTION THEMES DAY TWO: Confirmation: At confirmation, Christ seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can be better equipped to spread the Gospel like the Apostles at Pentecost. But it’s not enough to just receive these gifts. We have to accept them and choose to use them. AA 19:5-6 THE HOLY ROSARY

The war [World War I] is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI [World War II]. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. R/. Amen. The Rosary is my favorite prayer. A marvelous prayer! Marvelous in its simplicity and its depth. St. John Paul II If you desire peace in your hearts, in your homes, and in your country, assemble each evening to recite the Rosary. Let not even one day pass without saying it, no matter how burdened you may be with many cares and labors. Pope Pius XI Our Lady has never refused me a grace through the recitation of the rosary. St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world. Pope Blessed Pius IX St. Teresa of Kolkata has said that without Eucharistic Adoration she would never have been able to do what she did to the level she did it. She even hinted that without it she would have burned out. Mother Teresa required her sisters to do a daily Holy Hour that gave them strength and peace to accomplish their extraordinary work among the poorest of the poor. She attributed the doubling of vocations to the Missionaries of Charity to the nuns’ faithful hour of Adoration. Ven. Fulton J. Sheen began the practice of a daily Holy Hour when he was a seminarian. And he performed it without fail for 60 years. In his autobiography Treasure in Clay, he wrote: “The Holy Hour is not a devotion; it is a sharing in the work of redemption. In the garden … Our Lord asked, ‘Could you not watch one hour with me?’ He asked for an hour of reparation to combat the hour of evil, an hour of victim union with the cross to overcome the anti -love of sin” (Image, 1982). Servant of God Dorothy Day interrupted her tireless works of mercy to spend many hours before the Blessed Sacrament. There she interceded for the homeless, broken, and mentally ill people she loved. Her time before the Real Presence gave her confidence that she lived and served in the Lord’s presence all the time. Adoration helped Mother Angelica build the EWTN television network. For every hour she was on TV, she spent an extra hour in Adoration. When she was being challenged with great difficulties, St. John Paul II sent her a monstrance! His message was to stay focused on Jesus through Adoration and thanksgiving. “Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” Saint Maximilian Kolbe "Before, by yourself, you couldn't. Now, you've turned to our Lady, and with her, how easy!" St. Josemaria Escriva "In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal." Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Father and Doctor of the Church “O sinner, be not discouraged, but have recourse to Mary in all you necessities. Call her to your assistance, for such is the divine Will that she should help in every kind of necessity.” Saint Basil the Great
